AWARDS AND STARS AT THE 16th MONTE-CARLO FILM FESTIVAL

Many applause and satisfaction for the great event dedicated to the film comedy, conceived and directed by Ezio Greggio and ended with the gala evening and the awards ceremony on Saturday 9 March at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco.

The jury, chaired by the world-renowned film director Emir Kusturica and composed of Fellinian cinema icon Sandra Milo, French actress Mathilda May and film director, screenwriter and actor Edoardo Leo, declared the Palmares.
Best film is Hungarian, it’s titled “Bad Poems” by Gabor Reisz, which tells the inner journey of the young Tamàs, disillusioned by love after the end of his long story with Anna.
Best film direction for Nicole Palo with the film ‘Emma Peeters’, starring Monia Chokri, Andrea Ferreol and Fabrice Adde. It is the story of the suicidal aspirant Emma, ​​disappointed by the failures of her existence, that will change her life after the unexpected meeting with a funeral home owner.
Best actor is the Argentine Ricardo Darin for “Un unexpected love”, in which he plays Marcos, joined to Ana for 25 years, who suddenly begins to wonder about love, loyalty and issues related to couple life.
Best actress is the Australian Rose Byrne for “Juliet, Naked”, described in the Nick Hornby novel, which tells the story of Annie and Duncan, obsessive fan of the mysterious rock star Tucker Crowe. The film also won the Audience Award chosen by the jury chaired by the famous Italian actor Remo Girone.
Best screenplay to Dan Kleinman and Sameh Zoabi for the Israeli film “Tel Aviv on Fire”, which recounts in a comedy key the difficulties of dialogue between two peoples perpetually in conflict.
Special prizes during the Gala Evening: Comedy Prize to Paolo Genovese, Edoardo Leo and Antonio Albanese; Career Award to Sandra Milo and Andrea Ferreol; Monte-Carlo Film Festival Award to Salvatore Esposito and international actor Michael Madsen; King of Comedy award to Carlo Verdone and Legend Award to the president of the jury Emir Kusturica.
The event is under the High Patronage of S.A.S. Prince Albert II of Monaco and the Embassy of Italy, and in collaboration with EFG Private Bank.
